Logistics Engineer
     

Description


First-line supervisor of a medium sized group of hourly and/or salaried employees in a parts distribution center or materials warehouse. Responsible for prompt shipment and/or receipt of parts by efficient utilization of labor and equipment. Work consists of a number of involved clerical and manual operations with decisions made within the limits of general practices and procedures. Volume of work serves as a check on productivity.

- Maintains prompt shipment
- Maintains safety and good housekeeping practices
- Maintains records to track and improve departmental performance
- Participates in the selection of new employees
- Trains, develops and evaluates employees
- Keeps abreast of parts distribution center performance reports and costs
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Material procurement and production planning according to customer's demand
- Inventory and logistic cost control
- Follow up and report delivery performance
- Customer demand analysis
- Logistics agreement with customers
- Logistics FMEA
- Logistics complaint management
- Parts distribution/warehousing on-site management, on-site problems found and timely treatment
- Warehouse and logistics process optimization (JIT, Lean Production and perfect quality system documents)
- Interface/communicate with suppliers
- Responsible for daily forecasting
- Daily juggling of parts and suppliers
- Familiar with EDI and MRP systems. The client is running EDI and QAD as their MRP.
- The candidate with supplier experience, who works directly for an auto parts supplier, not specially for an OEM.

Qualifications

- General product knowledge
- Some analytical ability where problems are not very difficult or complex
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output
- Oral and written communications skills
- Knowledge of Warehouse System Management in SAP, Barcode and UBK
- Familiar with Supply chain management and ERP system

Education and Training

- Preferred Bachelors degree or equivalent training, plus additional training such as that acquired in the first six months of business
  or technical school
- 5+ years of experience in Material Planning, Purchasing, Auto Parts Distribution, Warehouse or Logistics is preferred
- Completion of recommended Corporate training programs
